Ibuprofen comes as a prescription treatment either as a tablet or in liquid form and should be taken by mouth. When using it to treat arthritis, it should be taken 4 times a day and after 4 to 6 hours if using it to relieve pain.
Ibuprofen tablets can be taken with food or a drink like milk to prevent stomach aches. If the doctor prescribes the treatment, always follow the instructions given or on the patient leaflet.

Ibuprofen treatment is effective for the first 20 to 30 minutes. The effects of the treatment stay for 4 to 6 hours.
