Cheif Supply and Logistics UNICEF-SOMALIA Mr Tom Ziraguma pays a visit to Yenisom Pharmaceutical Site on 21st October 2024.

Mr. Tom Ziraguma, the Chief of Supply and Logistics for UNICEF Somalia, visited the Yenisom Pharmaceutical Site in Mogadishu on 21st October 2024. The visit aimed to evaluate the site’s capacity to support the ongoing health and humanitarian needs across the country.

During the visit, Mr. Ziraguma was given a tour of the pharmaceutical facility, which plays a crucial role in ensuring the availability and distribution of essential medical supplies to vulnerable communities in Somalia. The site is pivotal in UNICEF’s efforts to provide life-saving vaccines, medicines, and other critical health supplies to children and families affected by emergencies and long-term health challenges.

Mr. Ziraguma emphasized the importance of robust supply chains in delivering timely humanitarian assistance, particularly in conflict zones and regions with limited infrastructure. He also commended the efforts of local partners at Yenisom for their dedication to maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the pharmaceutical operations.

“Ensuring that medical supplies reach those who need them most is at the heart of UNICEF’s mission in Somalia,” said Mr. Ziraguma. “Our collaboration with Yenisom and other partners is essential in overcoming the logistical challenges that come with operating in such a complex environment.”

The visit provided an opportunity to discuss potential areas for collaboration and explore ways to enhance the effectiveness of supply chain operations to better serve Somalia’s health sector. Mr. Ziraguma also met with key stakeholders to review progress on current initiatives and address future needs.

UNICEF remains committed to supporting the health and well-being of children and families in Somalia through improved access to critical medical supplies, healthcare services, and logistical support in emergency situations.
